Be the voice of your community’s views on health

Female staff

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is calling for Derby and Derbyshire residents to consider standing in its forthcoming governor elections and serve as the voice of their community on health related issues, whilst holding its Board to account.

The Trust is seeking nominations from people living in the following constituencies:

By becoming a governor you will hold an integral voluntary role that will see the successful candidates helping to shape the activities of the Trust, holding the Trust’s non-executive directors publically accountable and being involved in a range of visits to local NHS services.

To find out which constituency you reside in and whether you are eligible to stand for a vacant governor post, please enter your postcode into our Find Your Constituency search facility.

The Council of Governors

The Council of Governors is made up of 16 members of the public, four staff representatives and seven representatives from partner organisations. Governors are elected by the Foundation Trust’s membership and will oversee the Board of Directors who are responsible for running and planning the range of NHS services that the Trust provides to the residents of Derby and Derbyshire. These include support with mental health and emotional wellbeing, support for people with learning disabilities, drug and alcohol support, support with eating disorders, and children’s services.

Who can become a governor?

Anyone who is a member of Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and resides in the constituency that they wish to stand for. All Trust governors must also be over the age of 16.

If you're not currently a member of the Trust but still wish to stand in the governor elections, then don't worry... it's not too late to sign up to become a member. Membership will close on Monday 21 March for the period of the elections and reopen on Wednesday 4 May.
