Operation Christmas Child

Samaritans Purse

Derbyshire Healthcare is collecting gifts for the Operation Christmas Child charity shoebox collection again this year!

Operation Christmas Child is the world's largest children's Christmas project, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse. They have been sending gift-filled shoeboxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy into the lives of over 100 million underprivileged children.

Last year, children and adults from across the UK got involved - including many churches, schools and workplaces - wrapping, packing and sending nearly 1 million shoeboxes full of gifts to disadvantaged children in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

From your hands into theirs...

Giving a shoebox gift is really quite simple. You wrap and pack it, they check and send it, and their in-country partners deliver it. It starts in your hands and ends up in theirs.

Please find enclosed the leaflet that can be printed off (black & white is fine) and attached to each box – if you can help, please do so. Even if you are unable to do a shoebox, notebooks, pencils etc. and toiletries e.g soap, face flannels, toothbrushes and toothpaste are all welcome. Each shoebox has to be checked by hand but nothing will be removed from your box unless it is one of the items not allowed to be included (e.g liquids, war items, religious items). Sometimes a box will be missing toiletries or stationery items and these will be added to ensure each child receives these important items along with their toys and sweets (hence the need for spares).

Ali will need your shoe boxes no later than Friday 8 November.

If you can help by either filling a shoe box or donating items, please get in touch with Ali Tuckley on 01332 623700 ext 31205 or by email at alison.tuckley@derbyshcft.nhs.uk
