Trust staff dig deep for Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child - Ali Baker, PA to the CEO

Staff from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are supporting the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, Operation Christmas Child. The campaign encourages people to donate shoeboxes containing simple gifts, which are then given to children in need throughout Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

Ali Baker, PA to the CEO/Chairman & Office Manager, has led the appeal and has been collecting the gift filled shoeboxes as they arrive, ready to send to disadvantaged children via the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse. This is the fourth year the Trust has supported the appeal; members of staff and service users have donated over 25 shoeboxes for boys and girls aged from 2 – 14 years, filled with gifts including toys, educational materials and essential toiletries.

Ali said: “This is such a unique and worthwhile project, and I’m happy to have been able to coordinate the Trust’s efforts. I’m particularly grateful to all those who have donated, as we all feel the pinch in the run up to Christmastime; it really highlights how much people care.”
