We have partnered with First News, the award-winning newspaper for young people, to promote World Mental Health Day (10 October) and encourage an open and honest conversation around children's mental health.
Laurence Baldwin, a consultant nurse in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team, has written a full-page feature on what we mean by 'mental health', and why good mental health is important. Laurence also gives tips on some of the best ways to stay well, and offers advice on who to turn to for help.
The feature also includes the thoughts of Leanne, a young person from Derbyshire, and encourages readers to join the #1in10 campaign organised by Derby City Council's Voices In Action youth council.
Our work with First News
This is the third feature that we have produced in collaboration with First News. The first feature coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week and was about anxiety, while the second feature in September this year was about finding your feet at a new school.
