Children's continence nursing service

Child continence
Who we are

The Children`s Continence service is a specialist NHS service that offers advice and support for children who have complex continence issues in Derby. This may include daytime wetting, constipation and soiling and delayed toilet training.

The small team presently comprises of two specialist nurses.

Referral process

Referrals to the service are taken from school nurses, health visitors, GPs, and both hospital and community paediatricians. Once a referral has been received an appointment is offered. Most consultations happen within a clinic environment, but additional support can be offered when possible in the home or school environment.

If you feel that you or your child could benefit from the support of our continence nurses, please contact one of the health professionals listed above in order for them to make a referral into the service.

Bed wetting

At present we are not commissioned to support children who are bed wetting. Advice is available in our downloadable leaflet
